GCI JROTC Leadership Team
Congratulations to our Genesee Career Institute (GCI) JROTC Leadership Team for finishing 10th in the nation!

The competition began in November 2023. Over 1700+ JROTC programs competed online in the first round. Only 80 schools advanced, and in February, the competition was reduced to 40. Those 40 schools competed in a three-day competition in Washington DC. GCI Cadets finished 10th in the nation!

Battalion Commander, Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Natalie Steward (Goodrich HS) led the team consisting of Cadets Ruth Davis (GEC), Katrina Torrey (Linden HS), and Addison Turkington (Davison). Special thanks to SFC Scott Delay, who coached the team on the trip.

The Cadets received both the George C. Marshall and Douglas McArthur awards for leadership excellence. They also toured the Pentagon, among other Washington DC monuments and museums, and received the official coin from the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

The Leadership team's success is a direct reflection of the leadership training they receive in the classroom. Great job, Cadets!
