The Construction Trades class prepares students for entry-level employment or college opportunities in the construction industry. The course is designed to expose students to the wide range of career paths available in the construction industry. As part of this course, students will become familiar with these aspects of the construction industry:

  • Safety, health, and environment
  • An understanding of the construction industry and its economic impact
  • Employability and technical skill required in the industry
  • An understanding of a wide range of products and materials used in the construction industry
  • Construction Tools and Equipment
  • Blueprint reading
  • Site preparation and infrastructure
  • Common construction practices
  • Residential Construction Techniques (Carpentry)

Course Schedule

This course will run for 80 hours and will be offered Monday through Thursday from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m. at the Genesee Career Institute.
