In accordance with Public Act 165 of 2020, the Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD) is required to conduct a Monthly Reconfirmation Review of its Extended Continuity of Learning Plan. The purpose of the review is to reconfirm and/or provide:
- How instruction will be delivered during the 2020-2021 school year;
- Weekly two-way interaction rates;
- Provision of higher levels of in-person instruction for English language learners, special education students or other populations; and
- Public comments regarding the Extended Continuity of Learning Plan from parents and/or guardians.
Reconfirmation of Instructional Delivery
GISD refers daily to the Genesee County Health Department required metrics to make the best instructional decisions for our students, families, and staff. Additionally, GISD coordinates a weekly meeting with Genesee County superintendents and the Genesee County Health Department.
Since the start of the school year, GISD has offered parents the option of full-time face-to-face instruction or full-time online instruction in each of our programs. In accordance with Public Act 165 of 2020, the GISD Board of Education reconfirmed this instructional delivery plan at its meeting on June 22, 2021.

Two-Way Interaction Data
As defined in Public Act 165, a two-way interaction is a conversation between (1) the teacher or another district employee who has responsibility for the pupil’s learning, grade progression, or academic progress and (2) the student. The conversation should be relevant to course progress and course content for at least one of the courses on the student’s schedule, or the pupil’s overall academic progress or grade progression. Two-way interactions may also take place through email, instant message, telephone conversation, or similar methods.
Below are the percentage of students in each GISD program that logged at least two (2) two-way interactions for each respective week.

Higher Levels of In-Person Instruction
GISD is committed to continue high levels of in-person instruction for special populations, as appropriate and in consultation with the Genesee County Health Department data. GISD has continued to offer the option of weekly face-to-face instruction, with additional supports, as a way to meet the needs of our special needs students since July. Identified English learners have also had the opportunity to take advantage of face-to-face instruction including additional tutoring since the start of the school year.
Public Comments
