FLINT The Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD) held the biennial election for its board of education on June 7, 2021. Two seats (one six-year term and one two-year term) on the five-member board were available due to term expirations.

GISD’s Biennial Election is coordinated by the Genesee County Clerk and members of the GISD Board of Education are elected by all of the constituent school district boards of education within Genesee County. Following the procedures set forth in Michigan Election Law, the board of a constituent district is required by resolution to designate a representative to the electoral body and also by resolution, determine the candidate(s) the board supports for the position(s) to be filled on the intermediate school board.

The Honorable John Conover was elected to the six-year term, and Mrs. Janis Bugbee was elected to the two-year term. Both terms are effective July 1, 2021.

The Hon. John Conover     Janis Bugbee

The Honorable John Conover has served on the GISD Board of Education since first being elected in 2019 to serve a partial term of two years to fill a vacancy created by the resignation of Dale Green. Mrs. Bugbee, also a longtime Bendle Public Schools board member, has served on the board since October 2020, when she was appointed by the GISD Board of Education to serve the remainder of Mr. Jerry Ragsdale’s term as a result of his resignation from the board.

GISD Board of Education President, Mr. Richard Hill, thanked all candidates for their interest in serving on the GISD Board of Education as well as the district representatives for their attendance at the biennial election and for their continued service to the children of Genesee County. Additionally, he extended his congratulations to Judge Conover and Mrs. Bugbee for being re-elected to positions on the GISD Board of Education.
