Expanded Preschool for Flint Children

The Genesee Intermediate School District has expanded its early childhood programs for newly-enrolled Flint children, ages birth to five. Our Early Head Start and Head Start preschool programs are FREE and will serve the educational needs of children affected by the Flint water crisis. Parents can learn about eligibility and how to enroll their child here.

Call 2-1-1 for Assistance

Families can call 2-1-1 for assistance related to the Flint water crisis, including information on how to get water, water filters, cartridges, and test kits.

US Department of Health and Human Services Resources

As a result of the Flint water crisis, many residents in Genesee County are eligible for additional healthcare coverage through Medicaid. This new coverage is a result of a waiver approved by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Information for Parents provides facts about lead poisoning prevention, sources of lead, at-risk populations, and lead testing and treatment.

Environmental Protection Agency Resources

The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) website contains important notices about the use of Flint water.

The EPA also provides recommendations on how to minimize the effects from lead in the home and suggests types of food that can help protect the body from the harmful effects of lead. (En Español)

Flint Cares

Flint Cares LogoFlint Cares was created out of the Flint Water Recovery Group as a way to provide Flint residents with the most accurate, up-to-date, and trustworthy information regarding the water crisis. It is a partnership of the more than 120 nonprofits, churches, grassroots organizations, individuals, and residents.

Michigan Alliance for Families

The Michigan Alliance for Families website provides information about the Flint water crisis and offers assistance with making connections to local resources. Includes resources in Arabic, English, and Spanish.

Commit to Fit

The Commit to Fit website provides a monthly Nutrition Education and Resource Calendar and a Fitness Class Calendar that list upcoming dates and locations for the Mobile Food Bank and Healthy Cooking demonstrations, in addition to other opportunities for health and wellness activities.
