Confirmed Cases of COVID-19 in GISD Programs

Over 1,500 Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD) staff provide direct services to approximately 5,130 students in early childhood/preschool, Special Education, Career Technical Education, and early/middle college programs in 53 school buildings/classrooms across Genesee County.

The purpose of this report is to notify parents and the community of all confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 in GISD buildings in accordance with Michigan Department of Health and Human Services Emergency Orders, effective October 12, 2020. As has been our practice since the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year, GISD will continue to report any confirmed COVID-19 cases to staff and parents of any students in the impacted classroom, along with working with the Genesee County Health Department to notify any “close contacts” through contact tracing. The dashboard below lists confirmed positive cases over the last 14 days, while the Cumulative Graph includes total confirmed cases since October 12.

The GISD has implemented enhanced cleaning measures since the start of the 2020-2021 school year which includes frequent disinfecting of touchpoints throughout the day, deep cleaning of bathrooms at least twice daily, and electrostatic disinfecting of all buildings weekly. When notified of a positive case of COVID-19 the custodial team also performs a deep cleaning of the identified area(s) including an electrostatic disinfecting of the space(s) using a Clorox 360 Electrostatic System.
